How this website uses cookies
Last updated: 15 October 2026
The short version
This site uses one cookie to keep the site working properly, and one small piece of on-device storage to avoid showing the same prayer reminder twice. Neither is used to track you, build a profile of you, or share anything about you with anyone else. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising cookies, or any other tracking technology.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website can ask your browser to store, so the site can remember something between one page and the next — for example, that you are signed in. "Local storage" works similarly but is a slightly different, more modern technology; we cover both here because they do the same kind of job.
What this site actually stores
| Name | Type | What it's for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
IMLUSESS |
Strictly necessary cookie | Protects every form on the site (contact, membership, volunteering, sign-ups) so it can only be submitted from the real form on this site — a security measure called CSRF protection. | Until you close your browser, or after a period of inactivity. |
imlu_adhan_… |
Functional local storage | Remembers whether today's prayer-time reminder has already been shown, so it doesn't pop up twice. Stored only on your own device and never sent to us or anyone else. | Cleared automatically the next day. |
Because both of these are either strictly necessary for the site to work, or store nothing that identifies you and never leave your device, current UK rules on cookies (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) don't require us to ask your permission before using them. We're telling you about them here anyway, in the interest of being clear about what the site does.
Other websites linked from this site
A few pages link to or embed content from other websites, each with its own cookie policy that we don't control:
- Google Maps — on our Contact page, to show our location.
- YouTube — a video embed on the Building Extension page, set to YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which doesn't set YouTube's cookies unless you press play.
- PayPal — donation buttons link out to PayPal's own website to take payment; we don't process or store any card details ourselves.
- Facebook, Instagram and YouTube — links to our social media pages open those sites directly.
If you follow one of these links, that site's own cookie and privacy policy applies from that point, not ours.
Fonts and icons
This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts and its icons from a content delivery network (cdnjs), rather than storing them on our own server. Loading a page from those services can share your browser's IP address and general technical details (like browser type) with them, in the same way loading any file from any server does — they don't set tracking cookies as part of this.
Managing cookies yourself
You can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser's settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookie above will likely stop forms on this site from working, since it's what keeps them secure.
