Teaching According to the Tenets of Shia Itna Asheri Faith
Every Tuesday 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Term Time (September - July)
"Try to learn knowledge because learning it, is a good action and study is itself a worship" - Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir (as)
Imamia Mission London UK, since its establishment has been engaged in teaching our youth Namaz and Quran. Over the years the Madressa itself has become an established school and we are proud to have our Madressa in which we have children enrolling, learning, and graduating every year.
We teach according to the teachings of the Shia Itna Asheri faith and by the knowledge and guidance provided by the teachings (sunnat) of the Ahlulbayt (as). The purpose is to bring together our children of the Shia community on one platform and teach in a comfortable, happy, school-type environment.
Muslim Schools Education Network
Imamia Mission is one of the members of the MSEN Network. This is a network which involves all UK Shia Madressa's to work together and provide the same teaching standards across all schools across the UK.
It removes the existence of any competition between local Madressas. Now parents can be rest assured that wherever they send their children, their children will be receiving the same teaching benefits as any other madressa as well as a universal curriculum.
Every Tuesday
5:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Term Time (September - July)
In the past, the Madressa was run on Sundays. At the time this was convenient for volunteers, students and parents. However, over the years this had become rather difficult to manage for both working parents, staff and children. The reason was commitment to jobs and children’s engagement in other activities. With that in mind, we decided to change the day and time which would suit the majority needs of all. The purpose of Madressa is to provide a platform for children to come together and learn in a fun and active way and we wanted to continue this thought rather than having children being compelled to attend. Therefore it was decided to change to Tuesdays evenings. This was piloted in 2023 and the turnout has been outstanding, Alhumdulillah, as well as commitment by parents and staff. We now run the Madressa every Tuesday from 5-7:30pm.
The Madressa coincides with the academic calendar for schools. This is the most practical approach as all children deserve a restful break and it would be unfair to expect children to attend madressa during holidays. It also helps us monitor absences. With commitment during term-time only, the attendance is more productive and the students are more motivated.
The Madressa coincides with the academic calendar for schools, ensuring productive attendance and motivated students during term time only.
IMM is proud to accommodate all children. Children are placed into levels according to their level of knowledge, regardless of their age. Childrens are placed in levels from Infants, Level 1 all the way to Level 7.
The madressa aims to be an inclusive platform for children of all ages and we accommodate wherever we can.
White headscarf and black abaya
Black/dark bottoms and white shirt/top
Shorts are NOT permitted
Attendance:
It is a known fact that attendance reflects student examination marks. We would therefore strongly encourage all parents to ensure no lessons are missed. The modules are designed to be taught within the teaching terms ensuring every Tuesday covers a specific chapter/topic. Rest assured there are many holiday breaks during the term so no student, regardless of the level, will feel overwhelmed.
As parents, we kindly request you to respect our commitment and ensure your child is present every week. In case of illness or other absence, kindly notify management or relevant teacher.
Behaviour:
We pride ourselves in having very well-behaved children and we encourage kindness and respect for fellow students, teachers and others. We consider all our students as representation of our faith both in and outside madressa. Should there be a need for any cause of concern, issues are usually dealt by management. Parents will only be notified in extreme cases of bad behaviour.
"To acquire knowledge is necessary at all times" - Hazrat Imam Jaffer Sadiq (as)
Islamic Jurisprudence/Rules. Children learn the wajibats, Halal vs Haram, rulings in Namaz and Wudh, the Usooledeen and Furodeen.
Covers mannerisms as taught by our Ahlulbayt (as). Children learn from Hadiths, Quran and Sunnah how we should behave and speak.
Islamic History - the basis of our Shia Itna Asheri faith. Children learn history of Islam, stories of our prophets (as), and major events.
Read in congregation, children follow older students and receive individual corrections from staff to perfect their conduct.
Students are physically taken to wash areas and shown hands-on how to perform Wudhu, creating lasting memories.
Includes memorization of Surahs, Azaan & Ikamah. Children practice recitation during congregation prayers.
Using manuals with activities, mini tests, group work, and occasional homework. Each subject has approximately 20 chapters covered throughout the term.
We now teach one subject per term instead of all three simultaneously, allowing deeper understanding and preventing overwhelm.
Hands-on approach where students perfect actions through step-by-step teaching of Wudhu, Namaz, and Ghusl.
"I remember being taught how to do Wudhu by Aunty Shazia... That is engrained in my mind and I have never forgotten it"
- Ex student: Lakhate-Zahra
The student fee reflects the cost of educational materials and day-to-day running of the madressa. There are no hide costs or additional payments required. The fee is payable at registeration in the beginning of the teaching year.
Students are provided with teaching materials: Manuals and Practical Manuals, exercise books and pens/pencils.
Note: The fee may increase yearly to account for rising expenses. Lost/damaged manuals can be replaced for £12 (manual) or £5 (workshop booklet).
Quran Classes
Learning Quran is an important aspect of our faith. Due to limited time in Madressa, we cannot teach Quran on Tuesdays. To Teach Quran you need the requisite qualifications and time to explain and teach. For this reason, Quran Madressa is taught on different days & times with an additional fee to cover tutor costs.
We have been successfully teaching Quran every Wednesday and Thursday for the last couple of years with our dear sister Laila. We have had many of the students who have learnt Quran from her and graduated.
Currently paused for building works. We look forward to re-starting once the Mosque renovation is complete.
For further information on Quran teaching, kindly contact the Madressa Team.
The highlight of Madressa! Children enjoy a 15-minute break to buy snacks and hot food. Weekly meal deal: £1.50 for a drink, hot meal, and snack.
Throughout the year, we organize majlis or jashns for children to participate in community celebrations and commemorations of our Masoomeen (as).
Trips are organized as rewards and may include payment. Past trips include:
